Matt McGorry is best known for his role as ‘Asher Millstone’ in the hit crime-drama HOW TO GET AWAY WITH MURDER and as ‘John Bennett’ on the hit Netflix series ORANGE IS THE NEW BLACK. He portrayed the character for the first three seasons of the series. He earned a Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Comedy Series.
McGorry also starred in HOW HE FELL IN LOVE which was an Official Selection for the LA Film Festival 2015 and in drama film UNCORKED. Currently, he is set to appear in the upcoming Netflix horror series ARCHIVE 81, as ‘Mark’, an eccentric trust-fund kid obsessed with his podcast.
McGorry is a passionate advocate for women’s equal rights. After reading Sheryl Sandberg's book Lean In and listening to Emma Watson's speech at the United Nations HeForShe campaign, McGorry decided he was a feminist. He has been a strong supporter of the "It's On Us" campaign and invites all genders to do their part in shifting the culture.
McGorry is a regular global traveler, and is an expert in physical fitness, having been a certified trainer. McGorry is also well known for his humorous social media presence and carries an incredibly engaged audience.
