Nicole Richie is an accomplished Creative Director, actress, entrepreneur, writer, producer, philanthropist and musician. Born and raised in Los Angeles, Richie was surrounded by art, music and costumes, helping her foster her artistic expression in many forms.
She is the creator and Creative Director of House of Harlow 1960 collection, which offers ready-to-wear, jewelry, eyewear, footwear, and handbags. An internationally recognized brand, the line is available in over 50 countries. Richie created another mass brand called Honey Minx, consisting of home, loungewear, headwraps, jewelry, accessories and beauty products.
Richie rose to prominence for her role in the FOX reality series, THE SIMPLE LIFE, alongside Paris Hilton. In 2017, Richie starred in her first regular series as ‘Portia’ in the NBC Sitcom, GREAT NEWS, produced by Tracey Wigfield and Tina Fey. Other TV credits include guest appearances on CAMPING for HBO, GRACE & FRANKIE for Netflix, NBCs CHUCK, Bravo’s PROJECT RUNWAY and AMERICAN DREAMS. Nicole also recently appeared in a recurring arc on ABC’s BLESS THIS MESS.
In 2013, Nicole brought her unfiltered sense of humor and hilarious perspective on style, parenting, relationships and her journey to adulthood to life in an AOL web series called #CANDIDLYNICOLE. The hit series was based on her Twitter feed and has garnered over 25 million views online. VH1 picked up the web series and turned it into a weekly television series in which Nicole served as an executive producer. Prior to this, Nicole served alongside John Varvatos and Jessica Simpson as mentors to 14 unknown designers on NBC’s FASHION STAR for two seasons.
In 2005, Richie wrote a New York Times best-selling book for Harper Collins called The Truth About Diamonds and later released her second novel entitled Priceless in 2010.
Nicole recently created, executive produced and starred in NIKKI FRE$H - a scripted reality series about her gardener/rapper alter ego who brings a new voice to wellness, along with an album titled Unearthed. She also was a judge on the Amazon competitive fashion series MAKING THE CUT, opposite Tim Gunn, Heidi Klum and Naomi Campbell.
Aside from creating, Richie spends much of her time working with The Richie-Madden Children’s Foundation and serves as an Angel Board Member for Baby2Baby. Richie also serves on the board of the Environmental Media Association, and supports other charities including Young Musicians Fund, The Art of Elysium and The Race to Erase MS. She was honored by A Place Called Home for her philanthropic efforts.
Nicole currently resides in Los Angeles and is a passionate gardener, mother of chickens and beekeeper. Her homemade honey has secured a People’s Choice Award at The Valley’s Hive - 4th Annual Honey and Recipe Competition and her chickens have been featured in the illustrious pages of Architectural Digest. Nicole is also a voracious reader and does book round-ups on her social media.
