Actress Darby Stanchfield is best known for starring in ABC’s hit drama SCANDAL as ‘Abby Whelan’. SCANDAL was ABC’s #1 rated drama of the 2014-2015 season, averaging over 9 million viewers per week. She is previously best known for her recurring roles as April Green on CBS’s JERICHO and as Helen Bishop on the period drama MAD MEN.
Prior to SCANDAL, Darby's television credits include recurring roles on CASTLE, CBS’ NCIS and JERICHO, and guest spots on BURN NOTICE, CSI: MIAMI, HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER, CSI: NEW YORK, THE MENTALIST, PRIVATE PRACTICE, BONES, NIP/TUCK, WITHOUT A TRACE, and MONK.
In between television seasons, Darby has completed a number of independent films, including THE RENDEZVOUS, MEDICINE MEN, SLUMBER, and CARNAGE PARK. Additionally, she appeared in Adrienne Shelley's critically acclaimed WAITRESS opposite Nathan Fillion and Keri Russell, and an adaptation of Oscar Wilde's THE PICTURE OF DORIAN GRAY co-starring opposite Josh Duhamel.

Darby can be seen in upcoming indie film MOSQUITO and currently stars as the lead role ‘Nina Locke’ in Netflix’s massive hit LOCKE & KEY, an adaptation of Joe Hill’s Comic, from Hill, Carlton Cuse and IDW Entertainment. After its premiere in February, the series was in the top 10, if not 1 or 2, of Netflix’s top 10 lists when you log into the platform in most countries. The series’ second season is currently airing.
Darby was born and raised in Kodiak, Alaska. Her father was a commercial crab fisherman. The family later moved to Dutch Harbor in the Aleutian Islands, and finally Mercer Island, near Seattle. She later received her MFA at the American Conservatory.
