'Laurel Lance' & 'Black Siren' in The CW’s Arrowverse, directorial debut with upcoming comedy Daddy Issues
Katie Cassidy is a seasoned actress best known for her role as ‘Laurel Lance/Black Canary’, one of the main protagonists in the hit CW series ARROW.
In 2007, Cassidy gained attention for her role as ‘Ruby’ on the supernatural-horror television series SUPERNATURAL, during its 3rd season. She later had a supporting role in TAKEN. In 2009, Cassidy became a cast member of the series HARPER'S ISLAND, MELROSE PLACE, and a recurring role during the 4th season of GOSSIP GIRL.
Cassidy had her breakthrough in 2012, on the television series ARROW, which spawned an entire franchise known as the ARROWVERSE. Cassidy reprises her role in THE FLASH, LEGENDS OF TOMORROW and voiced the character in the animated web series VIXEN. Following her character's death, Cassidy began playing ‘Laurel Lance/Black Siren’, an antagonistic version of her character from a parallel universe, starting in THE FLASH and continuing on to ARROW. Because of her roles in numerous horror films (most of which are remakes of classics of the genre) which include her feature film debut WHEN A STRANGER CALLS, THE LOST, BLACK CHRISTMAS, and A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET, she has been called a modern-day scream queen.
Cassidy starred in the film GRACE, in which she plays the titular character opposite: Tate Donovan, Matthew Lillard and Debby Ryan which is currently airing on Showtime. Before that, she starred in the Lakeshore/SPE film, COVER VERSIONS. She has also starred in the box office hits MONTE CARLO and TAKEN.
Cassidy is a spokeswoman for the charity H.E.L.P. Malawi. She is the daughter of the iconic actor, David Cassidy and singer, Sherry Williams. She currently resides in Los Angeles.
