Paul Adelstein is an actor, writer, and producer, known for playing ‘Cooper Freedman’ in the television series PRIVATE PRACTICE, ‘Agent Paul Kellerman’ in PRISON BREAK, ‘Jake’ in GIRLFRIEND’S GUIDE TO DIVORCE and ‘Leo Bergen’ in SCANDAL. He stars in CHICAGO P.D. (in its 13th season and renewed for a 14th), as Freudian psychotherapist, Dr. Gary Felder, in AMC’s silicon valley drama series THE AUDACITY, in Bart Layton’s CRIME 101 alongside Chris Hemsworth, and plays prosecutor ‘David Conn’ in the Ryan Murphy #1 hit Netflix series MONSTERS: THE LYLE AND ERIK MENENDEZ STORY (2024).
Adelstein also co-created, wrote, and produced the dark-comedy series IMPOSTERS, which ranked #9 on Netflix list of acquired series. He recurred in Freeform’s CRUEL SUMMER, and starred as ‘Todd’ in Netflix’s TRUE STORY executive produced by Kevin Hart. Other notable projects include the Coen Brothers INTOLERABLE CRUELTY, BEDAZZLED, and RETURN TO ZERO.
He is the songwriter/singer in Los Angeles-based band Doris. One of his songs can be heard in the Coen Brothers’ film BURN AFTER READING. He hosts a PRISON BREAK rewatch podcast with Sarah Wayne Callies called PRISON BREAKING WITH SARAH & PAUL.
Adelstein attended Bowdoin College and began his theater career in Chicago as a member of John Cusack’s NEW CRIME PRODUCTIONS theater company; he later appeared in many productions with STEPPENWOLF THEATRE COMPANY.
