Canadian actor Raymond Ablack is currently starring in Netflix’s GINNY & GEORGIA as fan-favorite coffee shop owner (and Georgia’s love interest) ‘Joe’. The show’s highly anticipated 3rd season is streaming now, and it’s already renewed for season 4.
He began his career in the early 2000s as a child actor on stage, performing as ‘Young Simba’ in THE LION KING at the Princess of Wales Theatre. He later gained recognition for playing ‘Sav Bhandari’ in hit teen drama series DEGRASSI: THE NEXT GENERATION from 2007-2011, appearing in more than 100 episodes.
From 2014-2017, Ablack starred in web series TEENAGERS and an Indie Series Award for his performance in 2016. He has also played recurring roles in critically acclaimed Netflix series NARCOS, BBC/Space television series ORPHAN BLACK, Syfy series DEFIANCE, Freeform series SHADOWHUNTERS, and Canadian legal drama BURDEN OF TRUTH. Since the early 2020s, Ablack has achieved wider attention for his performances in several popular Netflix series such as MAID (2021) and WORKIN' MOMS (2023), in addition to GINNY & GEORGIA.
His film roles include Tribeca premiere BUFFALOED and Netflix rom-com LOVE IN THE VILLA.
Raymond attended Ryerson University where he completed a 4-year B.A. in Radio and Television, Media Production, with an English minor. Raymond studied Stand up Comedy and Improvisation at The Second City in Toronto. And he completed a 4-year arts specialty diploma in choral music at Cardinal Carter, Academy for the Arts.
He has done extensive charity work throughout his career, including school-building missions in Africa, India, and Ecuador.
