LaRoyce Hawkins is an actor, comedian, poet, speaker, and musician. Best known for starring in the NBC hits CHICAGO FIRE and its spinoff CHICAGO JUSTICE. He currently stars as ‘Kevin Atwater’ in CHICAGO P.D. in its 10th season, and in the 8th season of CHICAGO MED. In 2021, he was nominated for the NAMIC Vision Award in the Best Performance Drama category for CHICAGO P.D. Other recent roles include HBO Max comedy SOUTH SIDE as ‘Michael ‘Shaw’ Owens’ in its 3rd season, and BET+ film NORTH OF THE 10.
He got his first role playing Art Baker in the major motion picture THE EXPRESS. From there he made powerful television appearances on such series as HOUSE OF PAYNE, DETROIT 187, and UNDEREMPLOYED. Film credits include THE KILLING OF KENNETH CHAMBERLAIN, HOPE SPRINGS ETERNAL, and CANAL STREET.
He has hosted events at the Museum of Science and Industry and the Allstate Arena, and is known for creating an energetic and fun environment. Amongst hosting, his many other talents include stand-up, writing poetry to empower others while sharing the black experience, and music. In his free time, he has partnered with the youth empowerment event We Day, Covenant House, and Salvation Army. He also serves as the ambassador for the program Kicks 4 the City, supplying the inner-city youths with on-trend sneakers.
Born and raised in Harvey Illinois in the Chicago South Suburbs. He was raised by his mother Leah Bradley and his father Leonard Hawkins.
LaRoyce attended Thornton High School where he first became interested in acting and stand-up comedy. He attended Illinois State University on a full tuition scholarship where he majored in Acting.
He currently resides in Chicago.
